Stewart Smith joined the firm in 2002 and became a Partner in 2012.

Mr. Smith practices as in the Firm’s Administrative Department and has represented owners in various proceedings before the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Loft Board, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development of the City of New York, the New York City Environmental Control Board and the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings including complicated rent regulatory, demolition/construction, loft, real property and foreclosure issues.  He successfully handled a demolition proceeding which was ultimately upheld by the New York Court of Appeals.  Mr. Smith is also experienced in representing the interests of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.  He successfully litigated a case before the Bankruptcy Court and the District Court of the Southern District of New York, in which the Courts ordered the sale of a cooperative apartment but order the United States Marshal’s Service to remove the owner from the premises.

Mr. Smith has lectured at the Real Estate Board of New York on the Effect of the Building Code On Usage of Property.
