Landlords don’t have any easy options when it comes to collecting back rent these days. Most residential tenants that filled out a hardship declaration are protected by the pandemic eviction moratorium thru May 1st in New York State. When eviction proceedings do resume, the pace is expected to be slow as there are already so many cases in the queue. Working with tenants to compromise might be the most reasonable solution for both parties.
