Rent Transparency Act – Compliance Reminder
The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (“HPD”) has updated its website to include the signage required by the Rent Transparency Act, which was passed by the New York City Council last year.
Owners of buildings that contain at least one apartment subject to the Rent Stabilization Law must complete the sign by inserting the building address and HPD registration number in the designated fields and then post it in a conspicuous location near the entrance. Failure to post the sign constitutes a Housing Maintenance Code violation, with penalties enforced by HPD.
