Evictions that were issued before the Covid-19 housing court shut down can now proceed according to a recent memo by Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks. This development is the latest announcement in a confusing an often unpredictable reopening of the housing courts. For the time being, post March 17 proceedings seem to remain ‘suspended’ by virtue of the Administrative Order. Both landlord and tenant attorneys remain frustrated with the reopening process as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect almost all facets of City and State proceedings.
