Governor Andrew Cuomo’s latest executive order broadens the scope of existing eviction legislation. An executive order signed Tuesday afternoon extends provisions of the Tenant Safe Harbor Act through Jan 2021 and applies to pre-Covid evictions. The executive order does not modify the end of the law and the Office of Court Administration said it will issue further guidance. Landlords, tenants and property owners have all experienced hardship due to Covid-19. Many continue to express concerns about the guidance and sustainability provided by the legislation.
