Damien Bernache joined the firm as an associate in 2016 and became partner in 2020.

Mr. Bernache practices as a partner in the Firm’s Administrative Department, and has litigated many cases at DHCR, the NYS Division of Human Rights, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, and the Supreme Courts, defending against complex allegations of rent overcharge, succession, harassment and discrimination.  He successfully litigated the deregulation of an entire building due to a substantial rehabilitation. Mr. Bernache also concentrates in affordable housing. He successfully increased an owner’s “sticky voucher” rent roll by over $100,000.00 following an initial unfavorable determination by HPD.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Bernache has represented numerous clients in performing due diligence in acquisitions and advises owners and buyers in assessing compliance under Regulatory Agreements with DHPR, DHCR, HFA and HUD.
